Antenna Types and Usages

Omni-Directional Antennas

Omni-directional antennas are a class of antenna which radiates equal radio power in all directions. These are best used when you are trying to cover a wide area with a Wi-Fi signal. Antenna such as these are perfect for campsite owners who wish to offer campers Wi-Fi.

Directional Antennas

Directional antennas are a class of antenna which radiates greater power in specific directions allowing increased performance and reduced interference from unwanted sources. These are best used when you are trying to extend your Wi-Fi to a specific location. Antenna such as these are perfect for extending wifi to outbuildings and summer houses.

2.4ghz vs 5ghz Antennas

The 2.4 GHz band provides coverage at a longer range but transmits data at slower speeds. This makes them suitable for extending wifi to buildings at a greater distance but internet speed can be slower.

The 5 GHz band provides less coverage but transmits data at faster speeds. This will retain your internet speeds but will not extend a wifi signal as far.

GSM/3G/4G Antennas

GSM antennas are a class of antenna able to send and receive mobile network signals. They allow you to receive a mobile internet connection from remote locations that do not have access to Wi-Fi. These are suitable for providing an internet connection to a caravan or mobile home.
